Welcome Students, Parents, Teachers and Guests.
Welcome to our one-stop vocabulary learning site. This site was developed to give our students the ability to go to one place for all of their vocabulary needs no matter what class they are in. This website is divided by subject areas along the top of the page. Our entire staff will be creating their own page on this website so you can access all of your vocabulary without having to remember to bring it home with you or without having to go to more than one website to get it.
Parents: Welcome and feel free to browse through this website anytime to see what vocabulary your student is working on. All of the subjects areas are here and available to you and your student 24/7. Below you will find the Marzano Six Step Strategy that our entire staff will be using to teach our students their vocabulary this year. We hope you find this site helpful and you can always give us your feedback by emailing us on our feedback page.

Marzano's Six Step Strategy for Teaching Vocabulary
Six Steps Dr. Marzano describes a six-step process in the instruction of vocabulary (Building Academic Vocabulary). The first three steps are to assist the teacher in direct instruction. The last three steps are to provide the learner practice and reinforcement.
Step 1:
The teacher will give a description, explanation, or example of the new term.
Step 2:
The teacher will ask the learner to give a description, explanation, or example of the new term
in his/her own words.
Step 3:
The teacher will ask the learner to draw a picture, symbol, or locate a graphic to represent the new
term.
Step 4:
The learner will participate in activities that provide more knowledge of the words in their vocabulary
notebooks.
Step 5:
The learner will discuss the term with other learners.
Step 6:
The learner will participate in games that provide more reinforcement of the new term.
